We’re full-time overlanders living out of Rhino, our 2015 Toyota Hilux, currently tackling what we call the Mega Transect—roaming the wilds of the American West, then on through South America, up the African continent, and eventually back to the UK via Europe. With that kind of journey, every single item we carry has to earn its keep. And Goso gear absolutely does.
Let’s talk about the 10” carbon steel pan—this thing is a beast. It heats evenly, holds that heat, and develops the most gorgeous natural non-stick surface with just a little love. It’s become the heart of our camp kitchen. Whether we’re making morning huevos rancheros in Baja or pan-toasting flatbreads in Utah, it delivers every time. It’s got that heirloom feel—the kind of kit that’ll last the distance (which is good, because so are we).
The Bee Grease seasoning paste is chef’s kiss. Makes seasoning a joy rather than a chore, and keeps our pan in beautiful condition no matter what gets thrown in it (or at it, depending on the wind). It’s like skincare, but for cookware—rich, natural, and smells amazing too.
We grabbed two of the scratch pads, and they’re such a perfect match for the pan—gentle enough not to wreck the seasoning but tough enough to deal with the post-dinner crusties. Bonus: they dry quickly and don’t get manky. Small joys, big wins.
The extra Bug Bite handle is a clever little addition—Jason and I now don’t argue over who left the handle somewhere in the truck again. One lives in our utensil drawer, the other clipped to the kitchen caddy. Job done. And they’re called Bug Bite handles—what’s not to love?
Goso’s gear feels like it was made by people who actually cook outdoors, not just sell to people who wish they did. Every piece we’ve used has made our nomadic lifestyle that bit more delicious, more functional, and more joyful.
